Pad printing artwork tips...
- Film should be: positive, right reading, emulsion down.
- All RGB elemets should be converted to CMYK using software such as Adobe Illustrator.
- Four colour process images are usually processed optimally at 150lpi, 175lpi or 200lpi.
- Shadow areas (the darkest part of your image) in halftones should not exceed 90% - pad printing does not print solids areas well when using polymer plates!
- Highlight areas in halftone images should not be set at less than around 12%. You may need to use some retarder in these instances so fine dots do not dry on the printing pad.
- LineArt should always be checked to ensure the file is not using the RGB colour model. Images should be set to 100% black and screened with a Third Dimension photo-polymer plate screen.
- We recommend using quality Third Dimension polymer plates & screens in your platemaking process. Our Hi-Fi pads may also assist with excellent ink transfer properties for your important printing jobs.
